Let's tell Obama that we want online poker rights in America

President-elect Obama has asked the American people for input. He wants us to tell him what we would like to see him do over the next four years. To facilitate this, the Obama transition team set up an area of their website for input.

To tell President-elect Obama that you want your right to play online poker in a safe and legal environment respected and protected, please follow the simple instructions below.

Together, we can all let Obama know that we demand our rights!

1. Go to: http://citizensbriefingbook.change.gov/

2. Create an account (if you do not already have one)

3. After you complete your account you will be redirected to the front page. Now type “UIGEA” into the search box and click “Search”

or go to this link: http://snipurl.com/ppachange

4. Click the title “Boost America’s Economy with Legal Online Poker”

5. Click the “Up Arrow” to vote and add a comment on the bottom of the page:

Forward your friends this email or send them this link: http://snipurl.com/ppavote

I am deeply troubled with the concept of the federal government deputizing our banking industry and forcing it to enforce ambiguous gaming laws. Other conservatives concur. Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform and Bruce Josten of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce submitted statements to the Subcommittee with their objections. George Will, Walter Williams, and other conservative columnists have come out in opposition as well. Additionally, sixteen Republican congressmen and two Republican senators submitted comments to the Treasury Department and to the Federal Reserve critical of the proposed UIGEA regulations.

We don't need the federal government to protect of from ourselves. Rather, we need to protect ourselves from the power of the federal government. The power we give them today is the power they'll use against us tomorrow, as we’ve seen time and time again.

Additionally, many pro-poker voters who'd typically vote Republican didn't in 2008, preferring instead to vote Democrat, Libertarian, or to just stay home. As the Poker Players Alliance has over one million members, these voters are not trivial. If the GOP continues to cede their votes, how many most elections will they lose as a result? Is it worth it? Do they fear freedom that much?!?!?!?

It sure seems pathetic that we are shipping this revenue to overseas sites. At this time in our national crisis, it should be a no brainer to keep these funds on US soil.
